Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:

   We are announcing the 20/20 Vision, a ten year plan to unleash our parish mission. Your Vestry has prayerfully considered the vision we have received from God alongside the mighty signs of his movement in this season of our life: we see newcomers, a growing youth group, excellence in music and worship, and local and foreign mission outreach. We see hearts changed and lives finding a home in Christ. Keeping in mind God’s plan for Holy Comforter, we are committed to continue becoming:

            A church for others

            A church immersed in Scripture

            A church serving young adults

            A church of small groups

            A church of expectant hopefulness

   So, this campaign will be a two-month time of prayer in our parish; it will also be a time when we ask our parishioners to make a financial pledge to fix the aging structures of our church building (replace old wiring and the deteriorating stucco); to retire our debt and free resources for future ministry; and to strengthen our ministry to young families and our children’s ministry by developing a first-class playground.

   Based on the amount of pledges received, our leadership has included other plans to consider for our church campus. Though we are clear on the three needs mentioned above, we know that God will bring focus to these other dreams in time.

   We are asking each Holy Comforter parishioner to ask God how you might offer yourself by making a financial pledge to this 20/20 Vision. It is all about the mission God has given us to take the gospel to others—and to the next generation; and it is all about gratitude for the new life the gospel of Jesus Christ brings. Divine, gracious love inspires grateful human love (Thomas Cranmer).

   This is not about protecting a monument; it is about movement of the Spirit. We have a confidence that God is leading us, and that we will remain faithful to the Great Commission and to the historic Anglican heritage for many generations to come. Prayerfully consider what God is calling you to give and make your pledge for the future of this holy place.

You’re Invited...

...to join us over the next two months in supporting a continuing 10-year vision for Holy Comforter. This will be a time of prayer for our parish and our ministry, an opportunity to give toward the mission of Holy Comforter: fixing the aging structure of our church building; paying off debt which would release resources for ministry; strengthening our ministry to young families; providing a first-class playground for our children.

To build up treasure in heaven...

[Jesus says] “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:19-21, 24

To Pray...

Heavenly Father, you are the Creator and giver of every good thing and you have richly blessed your people at the Church of the Holy Comforter for generations; create in us now a deeper sense of thankfulness for your provision, a greater trust in your mission, and a larger sense of your vision. Lord, show us how we might respond to your call to ministry in the 20/20 Vision, trusting in movement and not in monument. Bring us to that place where, having glimpsed your tomorrow, we might better see the needs of your church, your people, and our community today. This we pray in the power of the Holy Spirit and in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
